If you haven't heard the voice of Triana Akila, let's just say you are missing out on a special treat. There is something special about an individual when they are not only kind-hearted, passionate, and dedicated to their craft, but add smart, beautiful, talented, and a lover of Christ to the mix, you have what her father affectionately describes as a"Powerhouse"!
I had the pleasure to speak with Triana Akila to discuss her upcoming Debut EP Release Concert which takes place on Saturday, September 30, 2023, in Alexandria, Virginia. Tickets are still available. You can also pre-order the project, Love Chronicles, and receive access early on Friday, September 29. Tracks on this EP include: Traces, Love Is Here, Shrunken, Dangerous (Reimagined), The Door, Scarred, and Blessing in Disguise.
Triana Akila credits her mom, who is also a singer, as the inspiration that led her to become a musical artist. The support of her family means everything. They not only serve as a support but also her cheerleaders and champions in music and in life.
In addition to Triana Akila's mother, her musical influences include India Arie, Tori Kelly, Jonathon McReynolds, Fred Hammond, and Kirk Franklin. She is adamant about not being placed in a box as it relates to her style of music. Her tagline supports that: "I'm Just a Christ Lover Singing My Testimony." The songs on her current project send a message of hope. She wants those listening to her music to know that there is always more to look forward to in everything we do.
There is so much more to come from this young artist. She was a high school valedictorian, was awarded a full academic scholarship to the University of Maryland, College Park, and recently earned a Master's Degree from The Georgia Institute of Technology( Georgia Tech).
Triana Akila's message to aspiring musical artists is to "get around people who will inspire you. Just step out there. Do it scared!"
