Vision in Action: Jacqueline Snell’s Jazzy Jam Prom Giveaway Empowers Pasadena Youth to Step Into Purpose

There are moments when purpose shows up in a way that feels undeniable. This year, Jacqueline Snell brought that kind of energy to Pasadena through the Fifth Annual Jazzy Jam Glam Prom Dress and Suit Giveaway, creating an experience that centered access, confidence, and community care.

What was planned as a two day event quickly grew into something much bigger. With an overwhelming response from families and an outpouring of donations, Jazzy Jam for Empowerment expanded into a multi day activation, including an encore that allowed even more students to participate. In total, more than 1000 families were served.

Held at The Paseo in partnership with Soul2Soul Solutions and Councilmember Tyron Hampton, the event felt like a full prom shopping experience without the financial pressure many families face. Students were styled by volunteers and professionals, selecting complete looks that reflected their personality and allowed them to show up with confidence on one of the most important nights of their high school journey.

For Snell, this work is always about more than what’s visible on the surface. Her vision is grounded in making sure people feel seen, supported, and valued. That intention could be felt throughout the entire experience. From the moment families walked in, there was a sense of care that extended beyond clothing.

With more than 18 years of experience in mental health and community wellness, Snell has built a reputation for creating spaces that truly serve. As Founder and Executive Director of Jazzy Jam for Empowerment and President of Soul2Soul Solutions, she has impacted over 1200 families through initiatives focused on healing, resilience, and connection.

The Jazzy Jam Glam event continues to stand out because it meets real needs while also pouring into the emotional well being of those it serves. Through the WaterCoolerRoom activation, students and families had access to a space centered on conversation, support, and connection. This element added depth to the experience and reminded everyone in attendance that care goes beyond what you can physically take home.

This work also connects to a larger story. Following the Eaton Fires, Snell stepped in to support impacted families through initiatives that continue to provide resources and emotional support. That same level of intention carries into every event she leads.

The success of this year’s giveaway was made possible through strong community partnerships. Some of this year’s sponsors included Costume Designers Guild, LuLu’s, California Community Foundation, and Nordstrom, each playing a role in helping expand access and elevate the experience for Pasadena youth.

Recognition has followed her work, including receiving the Champion Award at the 31st Annual S E Manly African American Short Film Festival in December 2025. Still, the real impact shows up in the moments that do not require a stage. It is in the confidence of a student who now feels ready for prom. It is in the relief of a parent who no longer has to choose between expenses. It is in the energy of a community coming together with intention.

This is what vision and purpose look like in real time. It is thoughtful, it is consistent, and it meets people where they are while helping them move forward.

Jacqueline Snell continues to create experiences that go beyond expectation. Through Jazzy Jam for Empowerment, she is building something that lasts, something that uplifts, and something that reminds the next generation that they are always worthy of showing up fully as themselves.
