UnchainedTV: The Streaming Network Redefining the Vegan and Animal Rights Movement

By Tammy Reese | Thursday, October 23, 2025 | Lights, Camera, Action

In a media landscape where stories of animal cruelty, environmental harm, and systemic injustice are often ignored, one platform is breaking through the silence. UnchainedTV, founded by award-winning journalist Jane Velez-Mitchell, is reshaping how compassion and truth are shared with the world.

UnchainedTV is built on a clear, powerful belief: care drives change. The network is committed to protecting animals, supporting people, and preserving the planet. Through fearless storytelling, it uplifts the plant-based and cruelty-free movement by exposing wrongdoing and spotlighting solutions that create a more just, sustainable future. Its coverage celebrates plant-based food innovations and real-life transformations, presenting veganism as a vibrant and fulfilling lifestyle.

The network’s role extends far beyond celebration. As an investigative watchdog, UnchainedTV shines a light on corporate misconduct, environmental destruction, and systemic cruelty that mainstream outlets often overlook. Its reporting holds powerful institutions accountable, demanding transparency, reform, and responsibility.

UnchainedTV embraces intersectionality at its core. It connects animal rights with movements for environmental justice, human health, gender equity, and racial equality. The guiding philosophy is simple yet profound: protecting animals protects people. By linking human and nonhuman rights, the network champions collective liberation rooted in compassion and respect for all sentient beings.

Collaboration is a key pillar of UnchainedTV’s mission. By partnering with aligned organizations, the network amplifies the global vegan and animal rights movement. Its platform gives nonprofits space to promote campaigns, raise funds, and broaden their impact, creating unity among communities dedicated to social and environmental justice.

But UnchainedTV isn’t just about reporting on problems—it shows what’s possible when compassion leads the way. With hundreds of videos on plant-based cuisine, lifestyle transformations, and advocacy, the network makes vegan living accessible and appealing. It highlights the joy, health, and community benefits of cruelty-free choices, helping to normalize a lifestyle that uplifts animals, people, and the planet.

The network’s journey began with a bold move. After hosting a nightly show on HLN/CNN Headline News for six years, Jane Velez-Mitchell left mainstream media to focus fully on animal rights and vegan advocacy. Armed with a GoPro camera, she began documenting protests and using her journalism background to build a platform that would make a global impact.

In 2016, she launched LunchbreakLIVE, a daily vegan cooking show on Facebook that quickly attracted millions of views. By 2018, the effort had evolved into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Two years later, UnchainedTV premiered New Day New Chef, a Hollywood-style cooking series featuring celebrities. The show was picked up by Amazon Prime, PBS, and Gusto TV, earning two prestigious Taste Awards, often called the “Oscars of Food.”

Today, UnchainedTV is recognized as the world’s only free global streaming network devoted to veganism and animal rights. With more than 2,000 videos and a growing digital presence, it has earned the nickname “the Vegan CNN/Netflix.” The network documents the movement as it happens, inspiring change through every story it tells.

UnchainedTV’s rise reflects more than a media success story—it represents a cultural shift. By tackling issues like climate change, chronic disease, hunger, habitat destruction, and animal suffering, the network proves that journalism can be a powerful force for compassion, accountability, and systemic transformation.
