Meet Dr. Jay B. Teston


The International Schools Partnership (ISP) appointed Dr Jay Teston as the new principal of Nibras International School (NIS) in Dubai, in 2020. Dr Teston has over 33 years of experience as an educator, with 25 of these years at schools in the USA. He has extensive US-based and international experience in leadership roles, and for the last eight years, he has been the School Director at Qingdao No.1 International School of Shandong Province in China.


Jay is passionate about developing both teachers and school leaders. He led his school communities in exploring academic rigor through effective teaching practices that yield both amazing and exemplary results. While in the USA, he regularly presented at both Expeditionary Learning and Project-based Learning National Conferences, often sharing his schools’ successful transformation experiences. While in China, Jay organized a national conference of international educators to address the needs of English Language Learners, in partnership with the Association of China and Mongolia International Schools (ACAMIS). He is a trained school accreditor for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and has joined several accrediting teams in the Asia-Pacific region.


Jay enjoys spending time with his lovely wife and their three adult children. He also enjoys spoiling his only grandchild – Alistair. To maintain a healthy work-life balance, Jay loves to explore new and remote places through hiking, swimming, and diving.
