Meet Dominique M. Carson, a journalist whose work has been published by ebony.com (http://ebony.com/), Sister 2 Sister, TheGrio.com (http://thegrio.com/), NBC News, Bleu Magazine, Soultrain.com, and Singersroom.com (http://singersroom.com/), to name a few. Dominique has interviewed over 100 celebrities since becoming a journalist ten years ago.
Hailing from East New York, Brooklyn, currently adjusting to her life in Virginia Beach. Dominique may not live in New York anymore but she says that once Brooklyn is rooted in you, it doesn’t disappear at all. Dominique is a woman from humble beginnings and an urbanized environment. She was hearing impaired as a toddler but was determined to make something of herself so she pushed forward despite turbulent moments in her life.

Dominique tells people that her journey to success wasn’t solo; She received help from friends, family, mentors, mentees, and colleagues. Dominique shared with us that she is forever grateful to God for those who were in her life for a reason, season, purpose, or lifetime. Her ultimate goal is facilitating people’s lives with her hands and words. Dominique will continue to help others as a massage therapist and continue to write because it is her artistry and voice. She wants people to recognize her realness in being transparent as a media analyst and massage provider.
The multitalented and inspirational visionary is gearing up for the fall 2023 release of a book collaboration project she’s a part of titled, The Whole Entrepreneur. We celebrate her epic milestone in being a Book Profits Club’s 2x Author All-Star Awardee and the author of Jon B: Are You Still Down?
With all she’s achieved Dominique without a doubt believes in having a work-life balance. July is National Minority Mental Health Month, so it was important for us to ask Dominique how she maintains a work-life balance. She stated that life is about balance and too much of anything results in error. You have to find your common ground, learn to say no when necessary, understand that you have to work for everything, no one owes you anything, and have your boundaries in place.
When Dominique was in her 20s, she wanted to be involved in everything but now in her 30s, she’s allowing God to direct her steps and listen to Him with open ears so she can navigate life to its fullest capacity. But, Dominique strongly believes in time management and making time for herself since she juggled a lot personally and professionally. As a journalist, author, massage therapist, and writer, she reminds herself occasionally that she is only one person and not an octopus with eight arms. Secondly, Dominique sets aside personal time, travel, block all of the noise, and sleep to adjust to the work/life balance. Dominique loves to sleep and rest. When she’s not working, traveling, or participating in any recreational activities, she’s in her house, relaxing. Her house is her sanctuary, her peace, and comfort.
Dominique’s story is still being written and she has a lot more to do and achieve but in the meantime, she thanks God that she has the opportunity to do and be better each time she wakes up in the morning.
